Friday Favorites: Hobbies are sexy

Between the two of us, Chris and I entertain quite the hodge podge of hobbies:

- baking
- grooming bonsai trees
- discovering new bands
- playing guitar hero, halo, mario world...
- attending concerts
- researching new and interesting inventions
- politics
- hiking
- golfing
- rock climbing
- mountain biking
- shaving (really!)
- snowboarding
- playing the harmonica
- traveling
- gardening
Oh wait.

Those are Chris' hobbies. I'm not that cool
*.

Behold Chris' amazing Christmas Cactus, which he recently coddled into blossoming. If I even thought about turning on the light in the closet where the cactus was "hibernating," Chris threw a spiked heel at my head (hypothetically speaking, of course). If I accidentally brushed up against the leaves, he chased me with a freshly sharpened spear** (non-hypothetically speaking).

The bloodshed paid off, though. I have never seen more amazing cactus blossoms.

Chris' crazy cactus-growing skills are my favorite.

*Well maybe I'm cool by association, right?!.
**I'm JOKING!

That's beautiful! I've never had much luck with ordinary house plants, let alone a cactus. Way to go Chris!

It's gorgeous!!

My mother had one of these when I was growing up. She has the green thumb in our family (i don't even own a plant!) and it bloomed...i kid you not...In June one year. Tons of people came by to see it. It was like frickin' plant museum for about two days...this PHENOMENON. no book or normal green thumber could figure it out. Don't tell Chris...he might hope he is THAT cool.

Stopping by via Marcie's. She had a lot of nice things to say about you and your blog. Very entertaining read for me. I see he is patient enough to observe the proper light sequence to get it to bloom. I have to give him props because I am not patient enough to do that at home. My aunt wanted me to save a bunch of leftover Christmas poinsettias for next year but I refused.

Nothing says sexy like reading patent claims together. Ohhhhh. Ahhhh.

"Hear that, Chris? They claim an anti-neoplastic antibody for its target cells, said method comprising the steps of contacting the cells."

Ohhh. Ahhh.
